Hello, my name is Sharon Thompson. I offer help when you feel lost, depressed or anxious. Would you like to feel more confidence and emotional strength? Would you like to learn how to change habits and patterns in yourself, and feel better? Are there communication and/or behavioral patterns making relationship difficult? Are you struggling with a recent or past loss? Give me a call and let’s begin your journey towards a more satisfying life.
I place a high emphasis on listening and on understanding your situation and on how you’re feeling and thinking about it. I offer compassionate therapy. I strive to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere where you can explore issues which may be difficult to talk about at sufficient length elsewhere. I understand that each person and each situation is unique and deserves confidential, personalized attention.
What will we do?
In therapy we may focus on issues arising from your past, address and resolve specific problems, develop deeper personal awareness, work through inner conflicts, or improve specific relationships. These relationships may be marital, intergenerational, professional, or spiritual. I am patient with the process of loss and grief and provide practical ways to assist you to understand painful emotions.
I believe psychotherapy offers an opportunity to work toward living in more satisfying, resourceful ways. I value working in relationship with clients to help identify problems and triggers. Together we will build skills, solve problems and change behavior in constructive ways. When working with couples and families, I help identify frustrating patterns in relationships, their sources, and the "filters" and "blinders" that powerfully affect others. I work with family members together and on an individual basis. I encourage, when appropriate, including spouses, extended family, children, care givers, etc., in the therapy sessions.
My qualifications:
I am a master’s level therapist with the specialized education and training which equips me to work with individuals, couples and families. My former career as an engineer affords me the unique understanding of the challenges in a corporate setting, large and small. I also understand the challenges of balancing work and home life. I bring a wide range of life experiences into the therapy room; with that I bring empathy for a wide range of life’s challenges.
I have great respect for those who seek out mental health counseling. I understand it is not always an easy endeavor, but I know it can be a rewarding one.
